Before connecting your display, update both the Micro Reef Controller and the Display to their latest matching firmware versions. Both devices need matching compatible firmware to connect and work together.

The Micro Reef Controller Display gives you an at a glance view of your aquarium’s temperature, pump speed, modes, and light intensity. Once paired, you can adjust pump speed, light intensity,  modes, and your temperature set point from the display.

What This Device Does

The Micro Reef Controller Display allows you to:

  • View your current water temperature, pump speed, and light intensity.

  • Adjust pump speed and light intensity.

  • Access Modes - Feed Mode, Wave Mode, and Storm Mode.

  • Change the temperature set point and view when the heater is on.

  • Use variable pump speed modes to change the flow in your aquarium.

  • Feeding Mode, which turns the pump off for five minutes, then returns it to its previous speed over the next five minutes.

Step 1: Find your controller’s MAC address

Open your Micro Reef Controller interface and locate the MAC address at the top of the screen. Keep it handy you’ll enter it during display setup.

If you haven’t set up your controller yet, follow the Micro Reef Controller setup guide first.

Step 2: Connect to the display

1. Power on the display.
2. On your phone or computer, open your WiFi settings and join the display’s WiFi access point.
3. The display’s setup page may open automatically. If it doesn’t, open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1.

This is a local connection, similar to the initial setup for your Micro Reef Controller.

Step 3: Connect to your home WiFi

In the display’s setup page, select your home WiFi network and enter its password. Follow the prompts to save the connection.

Step 4: Pair the Display

Enter the MAC address from your Micro Reef Controller in the display’s pairing field and save it. Make sure you use the controller’s MAC address, rather than the display’s address.

Once paired, the display will show your controller’s current readings and let you make adjustments directly from the screen. You will see the Link status to show when connected to the controller.

Having trouble connecting?

Confirm that both devices have the latest matching firmware.

Double-check that you entered the Micro Reef Controller’s MAC address correctly.

If the setup page doesn’t open automatically, stay connected to the display’s access point and visit 192.168.4.1 in your browser.

If you can’t find the display’s access point, refresh your WiFi list or turn your phone’s WiFi off and back on.
